Great solid example in running condition!
In Late 1948, the front end of the English F93A Prefect and its Australian equivalent, the A53A Prefect, were given a face lift. The one piece bonnet was retained, a revised grill similar to the contemporary V8 Pilot and bulbus wings with headlamps built into the top of them was introduced. Type coded E493A, the new Prefect was introduced in two forms between 1949 and 1953 - a sedan (four door) and a coupe utility. The A493A Prefect "Utes" retained the 10 HP. 1172 side valve engine and had its bodies built under contract by Baker company of Geelong, Vic.
This example of a "Prefect Coupe Ute" was previously owned by Alan Stevens of Huntly, Victoria who had rescued it from a life as a rubbish dumpster. It was then acquired by Wayne Lodge who stored it at Nagambie for 13 years. From its condition it had had a rough and heavy life. Then Dr Athol Morris restored it for club registration in 2002/3 returning it to the road after many years in August 2003.
Finally restored and put back into a working life with full NSW registration by Antilles Coffee of Tamworth.
