Seller's Description
1955 MG TF 1500 ROADSTER SN:4337 VIN:HDE239355 ENG:XPEG3191 $45,000 (To be sold Unregistered & with Vic RWC) RARE TF 1500 The MGTF was introduced in 1953 and continued until the MGA in 1955. The TF XPEG 1466cc engine was manufactured from July 1954 until the end of the TFs production with 3,400 examples built, making the 1500 the rarest and most sought after of the TFs. Externally the TF 1500 is distinguished by a cream enamel nameplate on both sides of the bonnet near the front release buttons. This rare TF is a factory right hand drive export market vehicle finished in its original colour of mid-green with contrasting black interior and period wood-rim steering wheel and gear knob. The weather equipment includes a black vinyl hood. The capacity of 1466 cc was a 17 per cent increase over the XPAG 1,250 cc engine which provides a notable performance improvement. The bore increased to 72 mm and compression raised to 8.3:1 producing a factory claimed 63 bhp at 5,000 rpm. Matched with a 4-speed gearbox providing short and sharp gear selection, rack and pinion steering providing light and precise control, whilst the drum brakes are ample for the period. Recent mechanical work includes a re-build of the carburettors. The TF is the last of the archetypal square rigger style MG’s. This TF 1500 will provide its new owner with that classic 1950’s ‘wind in the hair’ motoring experience. Priced without Reg, Talk to us about Reg, Club or Other Plate Options.
