Seller's Description
Distinction, Luxury, Richness...Motoring in a grand manner! Oh yes...you can see it in the bold sweep of its coachwork, in the classic shape of its vinyl-covered roof line, in the quiet confidence of its broad stance. You can also feel it in the way it rides and handles - smoother and more responsive than any comparable car. and you'll sense it in the silence that greets you when you're under way It’s early 1973 and Holden’s flagship Statesman de Ville warbles out of the gates of Buckingham Palace in the middle of winter. With pillowy clouds of condensation billowing into the cold air from the exhaust of the Statey’s V8 drivetrain, a gloved hand rises to the window and bids the crowd ‘Gidday’. Sounds completely farcical?...well it never materialised but the possibility of Queen Elizabeth II enjoying the luxury of Australia’s most sumptuous vehicle of the 1970s was closer to reality than you think. Instead, Holden’s international ambitions for the Statesman were later realised with successful exports to South Africa (under the Chevrolet Constantia badge) and Japan as an Isuzu. In Australia and new Zealand, the Statesman enjoyed a 13-year reign as Holden’s flagship, with 50,000 HQ, HJ, HX, HZ and final WB models produced. ABOUT THIS CAR NZ NEW Two Owners for the last 40 years. A very tidy, original, honest as they come example with a beautiful 5.0 litre V8 motor, power steering, power brakes - beautiful and so plush to drive. Body seems straight and clean of rust. Paint is good Vinyl roof in very good order Upholstery still all original Spare wheel, jack come with car Mechanically sound Original Factory Handbook Original Certificate Of Registration Two sets of keys. HQ-WB Statesmans, de Villes and Caprices of any trim level, in good condition, are far and few between these days. While the big ‘Statey’ never transported anyone of blue blood, it remains a piece of local automotive royalty and is increasingly desirable to collectors today. If you are fortunate enough to own a clean, later year example of Holden's 1970s flagship, you can always sit in the back, wave passers-by a ‘good day’ and know that your electric rear demister owes its development in part to ‘Dear Old Blighty’. Car will be sold WOF'd and Registered IF sold in New Zealand. FINANCE PACKAGES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST! TRANSPORT / WORLDWIDE SHIPPING CAN BE ORGANISED ON THIS VEHICLE ON BUYER'S BEHALF AT BUYERS COST.
