"The Anheuser Busch Phantom" 1927 Rolls Royce Springfield Phantom (Series 1), 7.7 Litre inline six cylinder engine, Dinsdale Special Limousine Coachwork by Brewster & Co. In fantastic original condition - it has been through a careful recommissioning of the engine and transmission on its arrival in Australia (by renowned historic car specialist Historic & Vintage Restorations Melbourne, Australia - circa $30k). The car was purchased new by Mrs. August Anheuser Busch (wife of August Anheuser Busch Sr), of the famed brewing company. It was a special order and was delivered to her on May 28, 1927, in St. Louis, MO. The body style of this car is the special 7p enclosed drive limo. It has the sliding division, skeleton trim in the front, and the jump seats; this makes it Dinsdale Coachwork and that makes it rare. After passing through two more owners, I bought the Phantom through Bonhams Auctions and then imported the Phantom into Australia in 2014. With its origins of ownership linked to noted high profile American industry, simplicity of history and appealing original condition, this stunning Phantom is a fine example of Springfield production. This is why I bought it in the first place, the provenance. This is an unmolested RR that has never been rebodied or fiddled with like so many Rolls Royces have. Drives well, a magnificent car that has a lot of presence on the road. The Anheuser Busch Phantom was invited to compete in the Preservation Class of The Australian International Concours D'Elegance (Melbourne), October 2016. It came runner up in the category. A testimony to the condition that this fine car is in edging out other equally deserving vehicles to attain second place in Australia’s premier Concours D’Elegance.
