Seller's Description
Bonnie and Clyde would not have been caught if they were driving this car!!!! This is an original left hand drive classic car that has been modified by adding some modern improvements to make it safer and more driver friendly without impacting on the classic appeal. The "Six Wheeler" is painted in a dark green that glistens from the "Fireball" paint protection giving it an appearance of depth, set off by the contrasting shimmering black fenders and near faultless chrome. The four road tires are near new Coker Classic 6.50 R 16 with desirable Ford 1934 wire spoke wheels set off with very neat white walls, while the spares are the same but with worn treads. The radial 16" tyres are not only much less expensive than original tyres, but give a much more stable ride and road handling and also a more appealing stance.
Up on the hoist, inspection under the car reveals what appears to be near perfect panels and running gear. Hard to believe close to 100 years have gone by since this car was originally built. On opening the doors, you are greeted with what appears to be luxurious original upholstery in reasonable condition, topped off by a quaint little rose vase near the door pillar! The original dash shows speed, odometer (reading 36573 miles), engine temperature, amperage, and fuel level, all working. Also, on a neat timber panel are other more modern gauges. The all-steel doors close with a satisfying clunk. The interior of the dickie seat, being outside, has been refinished in more durable vinyl. But wait, this car has a lot more to offer!!!!
Lifting the hood exposes the 12v alternator which supplies power to the starter and to the electronic ignition hidden inside the original distributor cap. Now comes the surprise, the all alloy famous Donovan engine, naturally aspirated and fed by two dual throat Stromberg carbs sitting on the manifold. Exhaust is dispersed through extractors leaving a pleasant rumble behind. By all means, have a look at what Mr Google has to say about Donovan engines. It is a very interesting story. I understand that there are only 41 in Australia and this is one of them. The drive goes through a three speed transmission and is pulled up by efficient mechanical brakes, and modern telescopic shock absorbers. There are many more features of this car, and discovering them is a thrill because it's history is known by some members of the Queensland Model A Ford Club as the previous owner was a member. Note that this vehicle has full Qld registration and RWC until February 2024.
This handsome car is for sale by it's owner.
