This Rolls Royce has led an interesting life having been delivered brand new to a Mr Clixby in England – originally painted black. In August 1974 it was purchase from H.J Sibley of Bude, Cornwall, England probably by Stanley Carlson and shipped to the USA.
In 1976 the transmission was overhauled (receipts shown) and engine in 1977. In around 1980 the body work and paint were attended to. Last registration sticker (still on the windscreen) was from New Hampshire, 1985. In 2007 the Rolls was put up for auction by S Carlson and mentioned as having 177,000 miles on the odo. The auction description explicitly stated that the brakes needed attention!
John Burden became the new owner of the Silver Shadow in December 2007 and was subsequently shipped it to Australia in 2008. Since that time, the Rolls passed through a few owners until the current owner bought the car in 2019 from an Ian Chater – still with no brakes.
The current owner then set about re-commissioning the Rolls Royce which included a full brake rebuild including mechanical servo, brake master cylinders, new brake lines, new tires, removal of the fuel tank to fix a hole. During this time, a second hand interior was fitted along with some re-chroming of the bright work and other minor bits and pieces. After being off the road for some 35 years, the Rolls Royce was finally registered and back on the road.
Since recommissioning, the Rolls has done club car duties with multiple long trips during this time.
Suitable as a usable club car or easy basis for a light restoration project to bring upto a higher standard – this Rolls Royce presents excellent value for this model.
Sold with balance of QLD rego and RWC if sold in QLD (excluding transfer fees)
