Seller's Description
his special-edition 1962 Impala SS is one of the rarest ever produced. This particular Impala also known as the 50th anniversary golden edition Impala is one of only 300 to 330 ever produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chevrolet. Every Golden Anniversary Impala received special code 927 gold paint and special trim code 891 yellow-gold vinyl bucket seats. Chevrolet only made this vehicle available to dealers & not to the public at large. Typically with vehicles of this age, about 10-percent survive, making this car likely one of only around 30 in existence. The car had been a Californian car all its life until we aquired it in 2018. It's been an on and off project for around 5 years. It wears Impala SS trim, including the badges and engine-turned insert along the sides, which is perhaps the most dramatic element of the styling. There's also a contrasting silver tail panel that frames the Impala's triple taillights. We tried to retain as much as originallity as possible during the freshen up process. The floors are all totally original & in great shape. The Undercarriage, the chassis and body are all rust free. The undercarriage is in original condition, but with that in mind it's quite nicely preserved with a dusting of paint to keep things tidy but without hiding any of the details. The body was completely re-painted in 2-pac paint. The motor and transmission were rebuilt by the previous owner. This car is powered by the famous 409 V8 however, unfortunately we can not verify if its the original engine as the previous elderly owner had the block decked in the rebuilding process. Hence taking the engine numbers off. Sadly this was a common thing to do this back in the day. The engine and transmission both have very low miles on them. It has the correct original inlet manifold and the carb looks to be the original also. It has the original rams, horns, manifolds & generator. The front suspension was fitted with new upper and lower ball joints, wishbone bushes & Sway bar bushes etc. The suspension parts were all taken off & media blasted, re-painted & refitted. New shock absorbers were fitted all round. There is a 2.5 inch exhaust fitted with flowmaster mufflers. A New fuel tank and sender unit were also fitted. New bumpers were fitted front and back along with a new grill, headlight surrounds & Boot garnish infill. Comes with a new HD battery. The brakes have been overhauled with new brake shoes, wheel cylinders & hoses. The interior is mostly original. The seats, button-tufted door panels, hood liner etc all appear to be the original factory fitted items. They are in vgc with some minor marks etc but have survived very well for a 61 year old car. The original AM radio is still in the dash powering a rear speaker. This car has the original spinner hubcaps and steering wheel. The instrument panel is pure 1960s sleek, with a wide speedometer and smaller round dials underneath, and not a trace of any faux wood anywhere to be found. New carpet, door handles & arm rest were fitted. There was Dyna matt style insulation fitted to the floor prior to the carpet going in. The boot retains the original jack and wheel brace & has new mats, spare wheel cover and jack cover fitted in the boot area. The body has been fitted with new door rubbers, windscreen rubbers, door window felts etc. An immense amount of work has gone into this car & as such there's too much to list so please feel free to call Rob 0431 386232 any time with any questions & for a full rundown. Currently unregistered. Being sold with full Australian Import Approval for registration purposes. This car is located in COFFS HARBOUR NSW 2450 AUSTRALIA. We're happy to assist with transport & shipping prices both within Australia & overseas.
