Seller's Description
Seeing this vehicle for the first time is a real eye-opener. On the outside it is a 1968 American Motors Corporation (AMC) 2 door hardtop manufactured in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1968. Everything else looks to be BA Ford Falcon, and it just about is. In 2008 it was imported into Australia where it has received significant upgrading and a new paint job. The Javelin is now fitted with the Barra motor, automatic transmission and rear axle/differential assembly from a 2004 Ford Falcon coupled to a custom driveshaft. The front suspension components , complete braking system including tandem master cylinder and booster, park brake mechanism from the BA Falcon are also fitted together with the complete BA steering system and 16 inch wheels. The vehicle is also fitted with new front and gearbox cross members as fitted to a BA Ford, H4 headlamps, LED side turn direction indicators, high mounted stop lamp and a rear window wiper from the BA Falcon. You won't see too many 60''s muscle cars with one of those! The interior is now completely all BA Falcon including the instrument cluster, heater/demister, air-conditioning and all controls with the dash being suitable shortened for the width of the Javelin body which is narrow than the Falcon. With the extra depth of the dashboard the vehicle has been converted to a 2 seater with a very large carpeted storage area where the rear seat used to be. The window winders have been replaced by push button electric winders. I purchased the vehicle from the engineer who was the previous owner who had completed the conversion. It was done with precision and to a very high standard of workmanship. I have some more photos which identify the quality of the rebuild. The vehicle comes with a spare set of colour coded bumper bars for those who prefer that look. It is registered until late April 2020. I have the VicRoads documentation which can be forwarded to seriously interested persons. I have also included a photograph of the Modification Plate. This is a vehicle which is a very comfortable and economical air-conditioned high speed cruiser ( returns a mileage of 8.8 litres to the 100 kilometres when driving within the 110 kph speed limit along the Bass Highway from Devonport to Launceston. ) It weighs about 340 kgs less than the BA Ford and with the placement of the air intake placed just behind the grille it can also manage a pretty good performance. The VIN Number plate (A8A797M101943) on the vehicle firewall is the original AMC plate. There are none of the other AMC badges or plates remaining. The mileage shown is that for the BA Barra motor. I am very interested in selling the vehicle and am willing to enter into negotiation with serious intending buyers.
