Seller's Description
1969 Morris Mini Cooper S
This Cooper S doesn't just look the part - matching numbers, factory colours and that unmistakable go-kart handling makes this Mini the complete package.
This Mini Cooper S was first sold to a James M Hamilton of Brunswick Victoria on the 12th November 1969 and given the registration number KLC-987. The Mini remained on the road until 1979. Later it was sold to Robert Johnson (second owner) in 1998 for $500 (presumably as a barn find). In about 2009 saw the 3rd owner, Ian Hogan, take possession.
The Mini was then purchased in November 2016 by John Mills of Ferntree Gully (VIC) and subsequently fully restored back to bare metal over a period of a few years back to original condition. The original ‘Crystal White’ paint with ‘Special Burgandy’ roof and black vinyl interior colour schemes were retained making this Cooper S a real standout, statement piece. During the restoration, the only known upgrades were electronic ignition, ROH wheels (already on the car) and hardened valve seats.
Subsequently the Mini moved to its current owner in mid-2021. The following year, the gearbox was professionally rebuilt, and custom registration plates were obtained to keep the original registration number with the car ‘KLC-987’.
The Mini presents in above average condition with very minor wear in places. Behind the wheel is where the fun is had with tight, responsive, go kart handling and good acceleration out of the 1275cc engine.
This Morris Mini Cooper S is a complete matching numbers vehicle with known history from new in 1969 - being a Victorian car for near all of its life.
