Seller's Description
Few cars capture the romance of Italian motoring quite like the Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV!
Penned by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro during his time at Bertone, the elegant 105-Series coupe has long been regarded as one of the definitive sporting GT cars of the 1970s, combining delicate styling, a jewel-like twin-cam engine, razor-sharp steering and one of the most engaging driving experiences of its era.
Introduced as the final and most developed evolution of the legendary Giulia Sprint GT lineage, the 2000 GTV featured Alfa Romeo’s larger 1962cc all-alloy twin-cam four-cylinder engine producing approximately 129 horsepower, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel disc brakes.
These cars developed a cult following for their balance, sound and unmistakably Italian character, with enthusiasts today considering the 1750 and 2000 GTV models among the most collectible of all classic Alfa Romeos.
ABOUT THIS CAR
This particular example presents as a wonderfully honest and highly original car, which is increasingly rare in a market now dominated by heavily restored or modified examples. Retaining its authentic character, factory charm and period-correct feel, it is accompanied by an extensive history file documenting long-term ownership, maintenance and preservation over the years. Original, well-documented cars such as this are becoming exceptionally difficult to source, particularly examples that have avoided major alteration or corrosion issues.

Increasingly rare surviving example of the 105-Series Alfa coupe.

Original boot rubber mat still in car although has seen better days.
The body presents exceptionally well, with clean lines and a very tidy overall appearance complemented by quality paintwork. As an honest survivor car, it retains a genuine character consistent with its age, and accordingly there are the occasional minor stone chips or small imperfections one would expect of a well-preserved classic rather than an over-restored example.
Overall, it remains a remarkably well-kept and highly presentable Alfa Romeo.
The Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV has seen substantial appreciation in recent years as collectors increasingly recognise the importance of the 105-Series cars within Alfa Romeo history.
Values for excellent restored examples now regularly sit well above the $100,000 range, with exceptional or concours-standard cars achieving significantly more at auction.
What makes these cars so desirable is not simply their beauty, but the way they drive. Light, communicative and full of character, the 2000 GTV delivers an experience modern performance cars simply cannot replicate.
As enthusiasts often say, these are cars driven as much by emotion as by mechanics and with original, rust-free, well-documented examples becoming increasingly scarce worldwide, the best cars continue to be tightly held. Enthusiast discussion and recent market commentary also reflect growing appreciation for highly original surviving cars over heavily altered examples.
A true collector’s classic and one of the great Italian driver’s coupes of its generation.
