1975 alfa romeo spider 2000 veloce 5 sp manual 2d convertible

Seller's Description
We are delighted to offer for sale a truly exceptional example of Alfa Romeos much-loved Spider.
The Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Spiders were produced in four Series and originally penned by Pininfarina himself. It is arguably one of the most appealing Alfa Romeo designs to date and remained in production between 1966 and 1994. Our car is the second incarnation of the original design where the famous Kamm Tail replaced the rounded design of the first series cars.
Records we have confirm it is a matching numbers car and was manufactured on 17th December 1975 and sold in July 1976 by Frank Croft Motors in Sydney. This makes it one of the very last Spiders sold new in Australia. The body colour was Alfa Romeo Blu and the interior burgundy, which it still presents with today and is a particularly appealing colour combination.
The provenance of this car is nothing short of exceptional.
It comes with its original service logbook, sales receipt and full maintenance history with a thick folder of records and receipts. The current owner first purchased the car in 1988 and owned it for 10 years. During this time the car was fully restored. He then sold it in 1997. After some years he wished to buy it back and did just that and acquired it for a second time in 2009 where upon he embarked on a second full restoration to take the car to the next level.
In addition to a complete bare metal respray it also included the fitment of a twin spark engine complete with air conditioning (which operates electrically rather than by belt). The original engine comes with the car. This new unit provides the car with useful lift in power and torque and the air conditioning means the car can now be driven on hotter days in comfort. Further to this the car was treated to suspension and handling modifications from Alfaholics including their signature Superleggera GTA style 15 wheels. The work conducted was extensive and also encompassed a replacement Alfaholics steering box, Alfaholics stainless steel exhaust system and inlet manifold. The gearbox has been rebuilt along with the complete braking system.
The work extended through the interior where the seats were re-upholstered, the dash refurbished, correct rubber mats fitted with a new hood amongst many other items. The list goes on and on.and totalled over $85,000 in investment (in addition to the purchase price of the car). The result is a car of the highest standard.
The paint on the car has been applied extremely well, and the finish is nothing short of beautiful, particularly in this shade of blue. Crucially the panel gaps across the whole car are excellent and doors and boot close as they should with seals being correctly applied.
Start the engine and you immediately know you are in an Alfa Romeo. The 2 litre Twin Spark engine fires up with that familiar growl and then you are away. Out on the open road this car drives without fault with plenty of go from the engine and pin sharp handling and braking. The engine bay is a highlight as you would expect from an example of this quality.
The interior is a lovely place to be. The original wooden steering wheel greets the eye and the classic dash is very appealing. The instruments have been refurbished and are perfect. The dash has one small crack near the window, but this is out of eye line.
All the switches are spot on. Wherever you look this car has been faithfully restored using either correct parts or refurbished originals. This included Jaeger water, oil pressure and fuel gauges, fuel sender, wiper and fan heater rocker switches, heater facia and trunking, horn badge and surround, gearbox gaiter, handbrake rubber, battery tray the list goes on. The attention to detail is incredible.
The new, correct type of mohair hood is fitted and is as new and the hood frame has been restored too.
The boot is in excellent condition with fresh paint including to the wheel well which is the original.
For the new owner this presents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a stunning example of an ever-popular Alfa Romeo which ticks all the boxes, provenance, condition and quality with the bonus of a Twin Spark power unit and air-conditioning.
Work conducted on the car has been documented and carried out by the best in the business and it continues to be maintained by known specialists Beninca Motors in Melbourne who are available to provide references. Indeed, they have known the car for over 38 years (since undertaking a pre purchase inspection for the owners first purchase in 1988) and undertook all the mechanical work in the most recent restoration including the fitment of the Twin Spark unit, Alfaholics suspension and air-conditioning.
This is a collector quality car and available for considerably less than it would require investing in a restoration to bring a car up to this standard. Over and above this is what sets it apart being its history and provenance and this makes the car truly special.
As expected, it is recently serviced and ready for its next owner to enjoy.
