Offered for sale is my tidy and well-cared-for 1981 WB Holden Kingswood ute — a genuine and honest classic Australian street ute. I am the third owner and have had the ute since 2007. During my ownership it has been well maintained and only used occasionally for light duties such as trips to the local produce store. Shortly after purchasing the ute, I had rust professionally cut out and repaired, followed by a respray in the original Torquay Sand colour. At the same time, the body cavities and underside were fish-oiled for added long-term protection. The ute has been well cared for since. The body is straight and the paint continues to present well. The interior is finished in buckskin trim and is tidy and in very good condition for its age. Originally delivered as a six-cylinder Kingswood Ute, the original owner fitted it with a period 4.2L (253ci) Holden V8 and together the factory Tri-Matic automatic (column shift), gives the ute a much nicer driving experience while retaining a period-correct feel. The engine runs well and I fitted it with extractors and a 2-inch exhaust, producing a classic V8 note without being excessive. The ute retains its original column shift automatic. A GTS-wood grain dash with yellow needle gauges has been fitted, and the previous dash is included with the sale. It is fitted with period correct Holden Commodore bucket seats (installed by the second owner), which are comfortable and currently protected by sheepskin covers. It represents the final evolution of the traditional Kingswood-based ute, and good examples are becoming harder to find. I’ve enjoyed owning it for many years, but now that I’m retired, it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. Currently fully registered (recently renewed for 12 months) and ready to drive and enjoy.
