Bay to Birdwood
The Bay to Birdwood was first held in 1980 to commemorate the issuing of the first South Australian driver's licence to Dr William A. Hargreaves back in 1906 . The 2017 Bay to Birdwood Classic invites entries from vehicles manufactured between 1 January 1956 and 31 December 1981, this is the era which gave rise to the Hills Hoist, the FC Holden, the Beatles, James Dean, Rock 'n' Roll, Marilyn Monroe and hippies.
The day begins at 6am as classic vehicles pull up to Barratt Reserve. Everyone is invited to enjoy breakfast, jazz and entertainment as we wave off the entrants as they commence their day_s journey at 8:30am. Travelling from the Bay, the vehicles go through the city, then up into the hills to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood. The festivities continue at the Museum. All the vehicles gather on the grounds and those that have entered are judged by an expert panel. There are also fashion competitions, live music and local Adelaide food and beverages to feast on!
