Geelong Revival 2023
This weekend will see Geelong’s iconic waterfront turn into a 3-day motoring extravaganza as the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival returns for yet another year since its revamp in 2012. Being the largest classic motoring event in the country, Geelong Revival routinely hosts over 1,500 cars and motorcycles across the jam-packed weekend. However, this year the festival will aim to go higher - literally.
Festival attendees will be treated to action in the sky this year, as former military aircraft of the RAAF No. 100 Squadron will be performing flybys over the iconic Ritchie Boulevard sprint track on both days of racing.
“I’m really excited to see the old warbirds fly over our event, it’s great to be able to add something of historical significance to our lineup of attractions, and it will pair well with the addition of the new military display.” shared Event Director, Nicholas Heath.
Adding to the list of new attractions will be a large display of operational military vehicles, showcasing the new technologies our Defence Force are using. Joining the event will also be the CFA, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and the SES, giving festivalgoers a chance to connect with these community heroes.
When it comes to the racing, the current standing record for the Quarter Mile Sprints stands at 9.28 seconds, a feat accomplished by Kevin Mackrell in 2017. Kevin and his Datsun 260z return this year with hopes of breaking his own record, however, he may be facing tough competition from the likes of professional race car driver entrants. Geelong hometown hero and Geelong Revival regular, Zac Soutar, will be bringing his Audi TCR, fresh off finishing the TCR Australia Series on a high at Bathurst.
The 3-day event spans the entire Geelong Waterfront, showcasing classic racing and static displays. The festival offers an incredible weekend of trackside excitement with thrilling motorsport, vintage fashion, delicious food, and entertainment for all ages.
Geelong Revival will be in action from the 24th-26th November along Geelong’s Waterfront, with the festival kicking things off with a meet and greet on Friday night before racing commences from 10am Saturday. Pit and VIP Passes are available for purchase online
