Historic Sandown
All the excitement of racing from a bygone era returns to Sandown again when the thunderous 5000s, nimble Formula Fords and exciting Touring cars take to the track at this year’s event on November 9-11. Widely regarded as one of Australia’s most important historic race meetings, Historic Sandown attracts competitors from all corners of Australia as well as enthusiasts from overseas. There’s something for everyone, with as many as 12 different Historic categories from the 1920s to the ‘80s taking part in a three-day weekend of great motor sport action. To add further interest to the meeting, a huge rollup of 800 cars, including an impressive display of Mustangs and Toranas, are expected to be on show around the track. Come and join them or show your interest by bringing along your own precious toy. A number of the ‘greats’ of Australian motor racing will be on hand for autograph sessions throughout the weekend, and we encourage all spectators to bring along their memorabilia to be signed. Free posters are also available. This year the Victorian Historic Racing Register, organizers of the annual Historic Sandown meeting, will pay tribute to one of its ambassadors, Alfredo Costanzo, who will retire from his racing career at the circuit where he made his debut. The tradition Remembrance Day service, held on the Sunday at 11am, will also feature an array of vintage army vehicles and jeeps, so we invite you to join in and pay your respects in this important year. A fine array of trade stands are added features, so come and grab a bargain or a piece of motoring history as well as a beverage and bite to eat from a range of food outlets. Everything is conveniently located at Sandown Park, and there’s free access to the pits and the grandstand where excellent viewing of the trackside action can be enjoyed. Entry forms and supplementary regulations are now available! Unofficial practice will take place on Friday, November 9 and it’s free admission to the public for a taste of the action to follow over the weekend. Weekend prices: $35 (Saturday), $45 (Sunday), $70 (Saturday & Sunday). Children under 15 free if accompanied by an adult. For further enquiries contact 0402 224 133. https://vhrr.com
