"Commodore" to feature at US SEMA show
At this year's SEMA, running from November 4 to 7 in Las Vegas, there will be something of an Aussie flavour in the form of a modified Chevrolet SS sedan, the rebadged version of Holden's VF Commodore.
The "SS Sport" concept looks similar to the recently-released Craig Lowndes Edition SS V Redline Commodore, with its Some Like It Hot red exterior, body-colour door handles and mirrors, as well as the high gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels.
Chevrolet indicated that additions to the SS Sport were inspired by Australian developments and acknowledged the showcar's local lineage with wheel caps and a cargo tray mat that carry the Holden logo.
Other Chevrolet Accessories fitted to the SS Sport include a grille kit, fog lamp bezels, front guard vents, sport pedal kit, cargo net, bonnet and boot striping, rear spoiler and floor mats, to name a few. Some of these accessories are available already, while others are being evaluated for production.
In the US, the VF-based production Chevrolet SS for 2015 will be powered by a 310kW LS3 V8, with a new six-speed manual transmission, or optional six-speed, paddle-shift automatic, which will also make its debut on the 2015 SS V Redline Commodore.
The 2015 SS also receives standard Magnetic Ride Control and Brembo rear brakes, complementing the existing Brembo front brakes.
Additional to the SS, Chevrolet will also display "Performance" and "Accessories" concepts based on the compact Sonic, the Chevy equivalent of the Holden Barina RS, as well as a Cruze-based "RS Plus" concept and Malibu "Blackout Concept".
