'Two Hands' XA Falcon for Motorclassica auction
Rated as one of the toughest and most popular Aussie muscle cars ever, Ford'a XA hardtop coupes continue to attract the attention of enthusiasts. Bonhams are no doubt hoping the trend continues when they auction this special XA GT in conjunction with Melbourne's Motorclassica event this October 21-23.
The Falcon coupes have already made their mark on Aussie celluloid history thanks to their starring role in the "Mad Max" movies, and the example consigned with Bonhams continues the tradition, as it featured in the 1999 Australian movie "Two Hands" starring the late Heath Ledger.
This 351-cid XA Falcon coupe enjoyed a role in the film as Sydney crime boss Bryan Brown's personal car and was also driven on screen by Ledger. It was kept by the movie's director and writer Gregor Jordan until 2004 before passing to the current owner, Sydney comedian and radio personality Merrick Watts.
Featuring the desirable 351-cid V8 under the bonnet, the XA has automatic transmission and comes with some recent service records. The car has covered very little mileage in recent years, with routine maintenance carried out. Sold registered in NSW with the numberplates '2HANDS', these are not transferrable if sold interstate.
