1923 Ford T Bucket - 2019 Sydney Hot Rod and Custom Auto Expo Star Car
The whoppingly wide and tall Forgiato alloys with liquorice-strap Pirelli tyres are the first things that grab your attention on this build, followed by the abundance of gold plating in place of chrome. That starts with the custom radiator and its surround, and includes the headers on the supercharged V8, ‘crowns’ on the air filters, gold plating on the steering and suspension - even the diff. Inside, the steering wheel and column, pedals and shifter also get the golden touch.
The smooth Candy Apple Red finish to the outside of the body is contrasted by bare metal trim inside with a proliferation of gold rivets, while gloss black paint on the fuel tank picks up on the same treatment for the engine and the spokes of those jumbo rims.
Another very modern touch inside is the full-colour digital dash display and a tablet for other in-car functions.
Winning the first place trophy in the Show Car contingency awards, this creation drew attention and comment all weekend. Love it or hate it, you’ve got to admire the amount of work that’s gone into this machine.
