2014 Blokes Day Out - this Sunday at Sandown
With the historical handbrake on men's health has being to get blokes to go for a check-up or to seek professional advice on health matters, the Australian Street Rod Federation (ASRF) have decided to take the check-up facilities to where the guys are certain to congregate - a car event!
The ASRF in Victoria made the decision to create an event that combines the common passion men have for cars with a men's health initiative. The objective is to give blokes a fun day out, provide direct access to a range of men's health services providers and potentially save lives.
"To attract the blokes we will have a huge open car and bike show and we welcome people to bring along their hot rod, custom, classic and vintage cars or motorcycles to join in the show." said event Chairman Steve Bridges.
Health service providers will be covering a huge range of mens health issues. Diabetes checks, heart and vascular issues, stroke risk, obesity, eyesight issues, skin cancer and hearing loss will all be addressed.
Awareness campaigns will run for prostate and testicular cancer, depression, alcoholism, drug dependancy, sexual health and domestic violence.
"We will also be encouraging the blokes attending to help others by registering as both a blood donor and an organ and tissue donor," Bridges added.
