2014 Nissan GT-R revealed
Nissan say the 2014 model offers a new level of sophistication, adding premium appeal to the exterior and interior design.
Smoother ride comfort, more refinement and benchmark fit and finish all hallmarks of the 2014 Nissan GT-R, with no reduction in the GT-R's breathtaking performance and road-holding - holding true to Nissan's brand philosophy of "innovation that excites."
2014 Nissan GT-R - Chassis
More constant tyre contact is achieved by optimised electronic control of the shock-absorber valves, as well as modified front stabiliser spring rates and updated bush link. The tuning of these parts, which makes best use of the suspension strokes and enhances road-holding capability, gives a poised, confident ride and outstanding traction on rough roads.
With minute vibrations and road noise reduced, a relaxing, comfortable ride is assured. An additional benefit is improved straight-line stability, with fewer steering corrections needed to maintain correct trajectory during highway driving.
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST CTT tyres are now fitted as standard, which deliver improved road-holding and precise response in all conditions thanks to stiffer sidewalls. Steering is also improved with the new rubber. Specification is 255/40ZRF20(97Y) at the front, and 285/35ZRF20(100Y) at the rear.
Additionally, the GT-R's steering has been fine-tuned to reduce the effort required for in-town maneuvers, while maintaining its exceptional feedback during high-speed driving. The combination of retuned suspension and exceptional steering feel give outstanding confidence at high speed.
In harmony with the suspension, steering and tyre mods, braking calibration has been re-tuned to deliver a firmer, more linear response at everyday speeds, making smooth braking more intuitive, and improving driver confidence, particularly in wet conditions.
2014 Nissan GT-R - exterior
Externally, styling is largely unaltered, but the high-intensity, multi-LED headlights have been restyled and there's a 'Gold Flake Red Pearl' paint option.
The new headlights feature four LED units, configured with new intensive LED hi-beam and three different LED low-beams. AFS (Adaptive Front lighting System*) that automatically adapts the angle of the light beam according to the speed of the car. At highway speeds, actuators in the headlight unit adjust the angle of the projectors to project the light further out. The four LED units are configured with new intensive LED hi-beam and three different LED low-beams including long-distance-illumination and wide-illumination.
At the rear, the four-ring tail light signature now forms coherent circles of illumination, giving the GT-R an equally distinctive appearance
The new Gold Flake Red Pearl features microscopic gold-tinted glass flakes, creating a spectacular effect as the light catches the finish.
2014 Nissan GT-R - Interior
A new pale ivory trim has been added, bringing the interior colour options up to three. The steering wheel is trimmed in leather, while the part-aniline leather seats feature stitched accents.
2014 Nissan GT-R - Body
To achieve the target of high-speed handling and ride comfort, Nissan enhanced body elements and assembly methods. The precision-constructed, multi-material hybrid body combines steel, carbon fibre and die-cast aluminium for high stiffness and light weight.
The increased rigidity improves suspension precision, while refinement is enhanced, with optimised insulation and acoustic tuning improving occupant comfort.
An optional carbon rear wing, attached to a bootlid constructed of the same material, is half the weight of the standard bootlid.
Set for release in Japan next month, local deliveries of the GT-R are expected from March, 2014.
