2022 Geelong Revival – this weekend!
The 2022 Geelong Revival Motoring Festival gets underway today, 25 November, and runs through the weekend of 26 and 27 November, bringing hundreds of cars and motorcycles to the Geelong waterfront for the quarter mile sprints and classic motorshow.
The quarter mile sprints, conducted on Ritchie Boulevard, are the prime attraction at the Geelong Revival and feature vintage and veteran vehicles, post war classics, dedicated track and competition cars, open wheelers and modern sportscars. A range of classes pit similar machinery against each other, so expect to see Holden v Ford and Nissan v Subaru battles in the modern classes, with everything from a VW Beetle to an Austin 7, as well as all sorts of one-off racing specials in the classic classes.
Following practice and qualifying today, the sprints will run across the entire weekend, with contemporary cars and motorcycles racing on Saturday, with classic cars and motorcycles in action on Sunday. Every entrant in the sprints will complete approximately four runs down the quarter mile course, concluding with the Top 10 Shootout to determine the fastest vehicle each day.
In addition to the sprints, attractions at the Geelong Revival include pit access, where you can see the competing cars and bikes up close and chat to the drivers.
Matt Mingay’s Hot Wheels stunt team and the RAAF balloon are new attractions this year, with EVs welcome, too – in both the sprints and display categories.
Returning features include the Shannons Classic Motorshow, Supercar Paddock, Big Wheels 4x4 and truck display, Motorcycle Mecca display, vintage caravan and boat displays, a trade expo, live music, plenty of food vendors, the National Vintage Fashion Awards and more.
Except for pit access and VIP hospitality packages, public entry to all other elements of the Geelong Revival is free.
