AMG thoroughbred GT3 ready to race
This racing version of the Gullwing model stands out with its spectacular design and thoroughbred motor sports technology. Developed to comply with the GT3 specifications of the FIA, the SLS AMG GT3 is designed as a racing sports car for customers competing in sprints and long-distance races. The sleek racer uses the same 6.3-litre V8 as the SLS, but will be significantly quicker with the engine tuned to deliver more than 450kW. The GT3 will have a top speed in excess of 330km/h.
The main focus when modifying the body was on aerodynamic performance, with a new front apron, the bonnet with its central cooling air vent and the wider front and rear wings, and the side skirts with cooling ducts for the rear brakes. The springs, shock absorbers, suspension height, stabilisers and track width and camber are all fully adjustable.
The C pillars accommodate the fast fill refuel system, while inside the cabin has been stripped bare to save weight. The V8 is matched to a six-speed racing gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddles and a locking differential. There is a racing seat with a six-point seatbelt and HANS neck protecting system. Additional controls on the centre console start the car, adjust traction control or activate the integrated fire extinguisher in an accident.
