Aussie Muscle Car Run is coming
The objective of the inaugural 'Aussie Muscle Car Run', an initiative of the GT Falcon Club of SA, is to raise money in support of the Leukaemia Foundation's new $9.5 million patient village at Northfield, in Adelaide's north-east.
The Aussie Muscle Car Run is a seven-day cruise - not a competition - that starts from Adelaide's Victoria Park Racecourse on November 12. From there, the teams will travel 2,747 kilometres, covering every corner of the state from Mount Gambier and Port Augusta to Renmark and Streaky Bay, returning to Adelaide on November 18.
The event is open to all Australian-made muscle cars (Chargers, Monaros, Falcon GTs, etc.), as well as Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, Mini Coopers, etc. from the Golden Era (1965 - 1977), with stock Aussie classics, replica cars, with other special interest vehicles eligible by prior arrangement with the event organisers.
A $660 registration fee covers accommodation, morning & evening meals, backup mechanical facilities and overnight security surveillance. On top of this, participants are required to raise $2,500 (per team) to be eligible to enter, with all proceeds contributing to the development of the Leukaemia Foundation's new patient village.
Chair of the Aussie Muscle Car Run Kevin May said the event will give classic car lovers an opportunity to enjoy their vehicles on a relaxed and well-organised tour exploring regional SA, while also supporting a great cause.
"The Run offers owners of muscle cars from golden Bathurst era (1965-77) the chance to take their beloved wheels on a leisurely drive around our great state and participate in motoring activities such as drag racing and show'n'shine competitions - all for a good cause," May said.
"The Leukaemia Foundation's patient village provides a home away from home, at no cost, to regional blood cancer patients and their carers whilst in Adelaide for treatment.
"With up to 100 Aussie muscle cars touring through SA, it's set to turn a lot of heads, and we encourage all motoring enthusiasts to get behind this worthy cause and register," May added.
