Aussie scores rare gold GT-R
Last year, Bolt (who carries the moniker of Nissan's "Director of Excitement") took delivery of his very special edition GT-R, a custom gold-coloured example, with unique wheels, interior trim and other features, all of which the Jamaican sprint sensation selected himself.
Late last year, a copy of the Bolt car was made, and sold at a special online charity auction, with the winning Aussie paying $US187,100 for the Bolt replica GT-R.
All proceeds from the auction were donated to the Usain Bolt Foundation to help with its mission of creating educational and cultural opportunities for children and young people in Usain Bolt's home country of Jamaica.
The unique gold-painted GT-R features a BOSE audio system and 10-spoke RAYS aluminium-alloy forged wheels. The finishing touch on the local example was 'GLDZLA' plates, cleverly idetifying this car as a 'golden' version of Nissan's legendary 'Godzilla' GT-R.
"Nissan is proud to support the Usain Bolt Foundation and excited that the highest bidder hails from Melbourne, Australia," said Nissan Australia Managing Director and CEO William F Peffer Jr.
The new owner of the "Bolt Gold" Nissan GT-R from Australia said, "The Nissan GT-R just gets better and better and more refined each year, and the fact that this gold GT-R also celebrates the incredible achievements of the great Usain Bolt makes it something very special indeed."
