Batmobile added to US auction

The car to be auctioned was not used in the actual film, but served as a promo vehicle for both 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns. Built on an extended Chevrolet pickup truck chassis, the promo Batmobile is powered by a 200hp 350ci Chevrolet V8.

Carrying serial # EX02, this official Batmobile will be auctioned on a Bill of Sale, meaning it cannot be registered for road use. No pre-auction estimate has been provided, but in 2011, a Batmobile in the same style, and powered by an actual gas turbine engine, was being offered for US$650K, while a car claiming to be actually used in Batman Returns was offered earlier in the same year on eBay for US$500K.

In 2010, another Batman promotional Batmobile sold for 'only' US$185,000 at an auction in the US, while in 2007, a promotional Batmobile from 1995's 'Batman Forever' (in the more outlandish design featured in that movie) sold for US$297K.
