Bowe to race in the USA

The Monterey invitational meet will be Bowe's first international drive in more than two decades, his last overseas gig partnering Dick Johnson at Silverstone in 1988.

The Corvette that Bowe will drive at the challenging Laguna Seca track is the same car driven by Peter Brock at the 2005 and 2006 Goodwood Revival in the UK. Originally campaigned in SCCA competition in the USA in the late 1960s, the Corvette was given a new lease of life in the UK in the 1990s by specialist John Young. Comprehensively restored and fitted with an FIA-spec 5.4 litre (327ci) 465bhp V8, amongst other things, the 'Vette reportedly cost AU$150K.

After being consigned with Queensland-based specialists, Ecurie Investments, the Corvette was recently purchased by Joe Calleja, who commissioned TCM engine guru Dick Savy to thoroughly rebuild the car and tune it to Bowe's driving style ahead of some shakedown runs at Phillip Island in June.

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion takes place this August 17 - 19 at Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca, California, USA.
