Chev sets new Guinness World Record
In a gravity-defying automotive stunt, the US television star commandeered a Chevrolet Sonic in an effort to set a new record for the 'Farthest Reverse Ramp Jump by a Car'. Yep, reverse jump, meaning Dyrdek had to set a new distance record in the Chevy Sonic - in reverse!
The spectacular stunt, which took place at Six Flags Magic Mountain, (in Valencia, north of Los Angeles, California) totalled 89 feet, 3 1/4 inches (27.2 metres).
Dyrdek successfully landed the Sonic on the catch ramp and was able to drive away from the stunt - essential for the record to be recognised by Guinness. Thus, both the car and the driver are now GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record holders.
MTV filmed Dyrdek's Sonic jump for the season finale of "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory" which airs on MTV in the USA.
This is the second time Dyrdek has achieved a Chevy Sonic "first". In December 2011, Dyrdek successfully performed a 360-degree kickflip off a ramp, also in a Sonic.
