Chevrolet Camaro Convertible
After the coupe was confirmed as a production reality (it's due to go on sale mid-2009), the convertible shown at LA will follow a similar swift path, with a predicted release date of October '09.
While it looks very "finished" - and is completely driveable - the convertible concept has been created primarily to keep interest in the Camaro bubbling along in the lead up to the coupe's release.
Many items on the convertible are hand formed - including a 22 carat gold plated bowtie emblem. All up, the vehicle cost more than US $2 million to build!
Exterior lead designer on the convertible concept was Sangyup Lee, who's now based in Australia, working with Holden on rear-wheel drive engineering for the production models.
Like the new Camaro coupe, the convertible draws its inspiration from the 1969 Camaros.
