Classic Fords consigned for Shannons Melbourne Autumn classic auction
The auction, on Monday, May 5, has an extensive consignment list, with the Fords representing just some of the vehicles on offer.
The Fairlanes - a 1964 model 289 V8 Compact ($8,000-$12,000), 1968 289 V8-engined ZA sedan ($9,000-$12,000) and a 1976 ZH 500 302 V8 ($7,000-$10,000), head a treasure trove of nine classic Australian cars from the 1960s, '70s and '80s in the auction.
Both the '64 and '76 Fairlanes are being offered with No Reserve, so there's potential for a bargain or two to be had.
Away from the Aussie Fords, there are other Blue Oval desirables on offer, including a 1967 Lincoln Continental (No Reserve), '65 Galaxie ex-ambulance (also at No Reserve), '55 Victoria 2-door hardtop, and a Ford 302-powered DRB Cobra.
The pick of the Ford crop, however, is a '68 Shelby GT500 KR fastback. Finished in candy Apple red, and powered by a 428ci V8 hooked up to a 3-speed auto, this example is described as one of the last GT 500 KR's built for 1968.
This particularly Shelby is fully documented, with build sheet, Marti Report and Shelby Identification Report. Having spent most of its time in the American South, the car is in good condition, with part of that US tenure spent in a Houston-based collection.
Aside from the optional C6 auto, the Shelby also features a tilt steering column, folding rear seat, ten-spoke Shelby alloys and power steering. Given its condition and desirability, especially in the Mustang's 50th Anniversary year, Shannons have set a guiding range for the '68 Shelby GT500 KR of $150,000 - $165,000.
Other cars consigned include a '67 Holden Premier, '85 VK 'HDT Brock Replica' Commodore, '72 HQ Premier wagon and '72 HQ LS Monaro, as well as Citroens, Chevrolets, Mercedes-Benzes, and more.
Shannons' Melbourne Autumn Classic auction takes place at Shannons Melbourne auction rooms, 321 Warrigal Road, Cheltenham, with the first lot scheduled to cross the blocks at 7:00pm.
