Desirable XB Falcons for Shannons Melbourne Summer auction
Ford muscle car fanciers are sure to appreciate the 1975 Ford XB Falcon GT automatic sedan, finished in the rare factory colour of Frosted Lime Metallic, one of only 14 XB GT four doors in this colour.
Believed to have had just four owners from new, the GT sedan is also described as being one of just 109 sedans fitted with quarter vent windows from new.
Sold new in Southport, Queensland, the car has travelled to Canberra and NSW with subsequent owners, including a NSW Ford GT Club member who owned it until 2005.
According to Shannons, the Ford presents well throughout and recently had its suspension overhauled by Pedders. Offered with Ford verification, a six-stack CD player and tinted window glass, Shannons have set a guiding range of $32,000-$38,000.
If two door GTs are more your style, a 'GT Tribute' coupe has also been consigned for the December 2 auction. Described as nicely-executed, the 1975 Ford XB Falcon GT hardtop tribute has all the looks and performance of a real XB GT, but not the hefty price tag that a 'real' four-speed manual GT in similar condition could command.
Starting life as a beige 302 V8 hardtop, the car was restored by the previous owner to GT spec, with a 351ci V8 and four-speed manual gearbox.
Repainted in Porsche Guards Red, the Ford sits on 15x8 (front) and 15x10 (rear) Hotwire mags, and drives equally well, according to Shannons, who expect it to bring $32,000-$36,000 in Monday's auction.
Away from the Blue Oval, there's a real muscle car option for Mopar fans in the form of a numbers-matching Valiant E38 R/T Charger.
Delivered new via Harrisons Chrysler of Shepparton, Victoria, the Hemi Orange E38 R/T Charger is a 1971 model, that was with one long-term owner from 1983 and has been driven sparingly in the current owner's hands since 2009, travelling approximately 10,000 miles.
Befitting its primary role as an homologation model to go racing, the E38 R/T being auctioned was built with all the 'Bathurst' essentials, including option codes A95 (Interior Dress Up Pack), A66 (Hood Fender Dress Up Pack), A84 ('Big Tank' Track Pack) and J82 (homologation special).
Nicely presented, inside and out, Shannons say the Charger would suit a muscle car collector at its predicted selling range of $75,000 - $85,000.
Also on offer is a 1970 Holden HT GTS Monaro 186S, which carries a pre-auction estimate of $48,000 - $56,000.
Finished in the popular colour of Verdoro Green, the 186 and automatic-equipped Monaro is trimmed inside in black vinyl, and has been with the current owner for ten years.
The GTS features the big tank option, period HMV radio with rear-quarter aerial, and still carries its original wheel trims.
An older restoration, the Monaro is described as still presenting well, and has been barely driven in the hands of the current vendor.
Shannons Melbourne Summer Classic Auction takes place on Monday, December 2, at Shannons' Melbourne auction rooms, 321 Warrigal Road, Cheltenham. For more information on these and other lots from the auction, go to: www.shannons.com.au.
