DJR welcome new owners
Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) has announced that the Ralph Family, shareholders in several major sports teams, have joined the Supercars team’s ownership group and will become majority owners from January, 2023.
DJR will continue to be led by racing legend Dick Johnson and Executive Chairman Ryan Story, who both hold a significant share in the business, with no major change to the team’s day-to-day operations, either.
The Ralph Family are significant shareholders in the Melbourne Storm NRL club, while Brett Ralph is a Director of the Sunshine Coast Lightning in Super Netball, Melbourne United basketball club and the Australian Baseball League.
“Brett and the Ralph Family are fantastic people, and we couldn’t imagine partnering with anyone else,” said Story in announcing the new ownership structure on 15 August.
“They are extremely experienced business people with a passion for sport that is undeniable. From the moment I first spoke with Brett, he and I just clicked, and I knew we would have a fantastic working relationship.”
Johnson says he’s equally excited about the new partnership with the Ralph Family.
“Jillie and I are excited to welcome the Ralph Family into Dick Johnson Racing. We are immensely proud of the family culture we have created at DJR and to be working with a family who have the same values and views is extremely exciting and confidence-instilling.”
Speaking for the Ralph Family, Brett Ralph is looking forward to be part of the iconic Australian race team.
“We are honoured to join Dick Johnson Racing as a majority shareholder,” Ralph said. “We are very excited to be part of Australia’s most iconic race team who has winning in its culture, just like all of our other business ventures and partnerships.”
