EvolutionOz Nationals this weekend

Some of the fastest Evos in Australia and around the world use Hankook tyres such as the TD Z221 and Ventus R-S3 to reset their lap records and this weekend may see more records broken.

Motorsport Tyres Victoria (MTV), Hankook's Victorian and Tasmanian motorsport dealer, is naming rights sponsors of the popular event, which traditionally is held in a different State each year, and lands in Victoria for the 2014 event.

Held over three days, the Nationals is borne from Australia's biggest Mitsubishi and Evo forum, EvolutionOz.net, and has become the largest event of the year, attracting not just all models of Lancer Evolution, but all Mitsubishis, Lancers, Japanese imports and Time Attack vehicles, racing against each other in a number of competitive disciplines over an equalised platform, along with social components including a Saturday night dinner social often featuring key Mitsubishi-related guests.

MTV has seen the prominence of the event as a natural fit for Hankook, with owner Russell Palmer supporting the event in many ways, including tyre advice, sales and support leading up to the event and throughout the weekend. Each competitor will also receive a Hankook showbag, comprising Hankook regalia, and decals for Hankook signage over the race weekend.

With two days of action at Winton Raceway running to a fastest-lap-time formula, the appeal of the EvolutionOz.net Nationals is the ability for almost any car to be competitive, thanks to a classing system that grades particular modifications into one of five performance groups. So whether it's a Mitsubishi Lancer running Hankook Ventus R-S3 tyres, or a Time Attack vehicle on TD Z221 and Z214 radial groove slick tyres, there's a chance to compete evenly.

A Top Ten shootout of the fastest cars outright will also add to the excitement, putting extra emphasis on tyre performance from cold, with these competitors given one flaying lap to close out the track component of the event.

On Sunday, the Nationals relocates to the nearby Driver Education Centre of Australia in Shepparton, where the venue's skid-pan and road courses offer short, unique challenges, capped off with the Ralliart Medal Challenge, awarded to the fastest overall competitor. Speaking of capped off, Hankook will also have up for grabs one of its coveted 1st Place podium caps up for grabs.

The EvolutionOz.net Nationals is expected to draw in close to 50 competing cars.
