Focus RS Limited Edition coming soon

Ford has confirmed the high-specification Focus RS Limited Edition for Australia, with 500 units due to arrive here from November, 2017.

Ford says that global feedback determined the specification for the Limited Edition, which will arrive in Australia with a $56,990 list price – a $6,000 premium over the Focus RS.

“Ford’s performance models are an important part of our line-up, and we’re excited to offer Australians an even more capable version of the Focus RS,” said Ford President and CEO Graeme Whickman.

While featuring the same 257kW 2.3-litre EcoBoost powerplant, six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive (with dynamic torque vectoring, adjustable dampers and launch control) as the Focus RS, the Limited Edition differs with the addition of a Quaife limited-slip diff on the front axle, as well as Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres as standard.

Other features on the Limited Edition that are either unavailable or not standard fitment on the regular Focus RS include Ford’s ‘Active City Stop’ autonomous emergency braking, Recaro shell seats with unique leather trim and privacy glass.

All 500 units will be finished in ‘Nitrous’ (blue) prestige paint, with ‘Absolute Black’ finish for the rear spoiler, mirror caps and roof providing a further distinction from the standard Focus RS.

The Quaife limited-slip differential is a helical mechanical type, instead of the conventional plate-style LSD. The result, Ford says, is smoother operation, as it automatically biases the torque away from the spinning wheel, across the axle to a constantly varying degree.

This diff is teamed with Ford’s Performance Wheel Pack - a $3,500 option on the regular Focus RS - that consists of forged alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tyres.

Inside, the Recaro shell-seats include unique Nitrous Blue detail to match the exterior, while Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system (with an 8.0-inch full-colour touchscreen, voice-activated sat-nav, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) is standard.
