Ford offers Shelby GT350/GT350R ‘Heritage Edition’
Available on both the GT350 and GT350R, the package includes Wimbledon White paint, with side and over-the-top racing stripes in Guardsman Blue: the colour scheme paying tribute to the original Shelby racing Mustangs from 1965.
Additional features include Guardsman Blue exterior badges and a special dash badge inside. On Shelby GT350Rs with the Heritage Edition package, the seats will be all black, with contrast red stitching.
Tapping in to the recent hype of the Ford vs Ferrari film, Ford’s PR notes that Ken Miles was the first to drive a Shelby GT350 to victory when he won an SCCA race at Green Valley Raceway in Texas on 14 February, 1965.
“Looking back on it, what Ford and Carroll Shelby created back in the mid-’60s was so important to Mustang,” said Jim Owens, Ford Mustang marketing manager. “With their authentic exterior livery, unique appointments and performance Ken could have only dreamed of, the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition Package vehicles are a meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Shelby brand.”
Like all other Shelby Mustangs, the Heritage Edition GT350 and GT350R will not be available through Ford dealers in Australia, but specialists like Mustang Motorsport (Australia’s only authorized Shelby mod shop) will be able to build an equivalent package on a donor Mustang.
