FPV GT RSPEC released
While the 'Miami' BOSS 335 5.0Lt supercharged V8 engine from the existing FPV GT remains unchanged for the GT RSPEC, wider rear wheels and tweaks to the suspension have been made to maximise the 335kW V8's potential, which combined with launch control - a first for FPV - deliver quicker standing start times than any previous model.
The 9 inch rear wheels are a full inch wider than previous, and combined with 275/35 R19 Dunlop Sports Maxx tyres, improve grip on the GT RSPEC, with a revised toe setting on the rear wheel alignment also giving improved turn-in response.
The rear suspension contains higher spring rates, re-tuned dampers, larger anti-roll bar, and reinforced rear lower control arms, while the front suspension has stiffer upper control arm bushes, stiffer front upper suspension strut mounts, and re-tuned dampers. Stiffer transmission mounts have also been added to reduce powertrain and driveline movement under load to improve ride quality.
"On the track the RSPEC's capabilities are just awesome ... it is the finest-handling GT in history," FPV Managing Director, Bryan Mears said.
"We have put 18 months into the development of the FPV GT RSPEC and we are extremely proud of the results; anyone who drives it on the track will be blown away by just how complete and capable this car is."
Styling is distinctive, with the side stripes inspired by the classic 1969 Ford Boss Mustangs. The 'C Stripe' features '335' callouts and is combined with colour accents on the upper and lower grilles, foglamp bezels and spoiler, as well as black exhaust tips. GT RSPEC identifying badging is limited to the bootlid only.
Of the limited run of 350 units of the GT RSPEC produced, half are finished in the 'hero' colour combination of 'Silhouette' (black) with 'Vixen' (red) accents. The remaining 175 units will be split between red, white and blue, with black accents for each. Each vehicle will come with its own unique build badge, too.
All other FPV GT options will continue to be available on the GT RSPEC, including Brembo 6-piston front and 4 piston rear brakes, ZF 6 speed automatic transmission with sequential sports shift (no cost option) and satellite - navigation with SUNA Traffic Channel.
The recommended price for the GT RSPEC is $76,990, at participating FPV dealers.
As a companion to the GT RSPEC, FPV have also released a limited edition Pursuit ute that carries the appearance features of the Silhouette/Vixen sedan, but none of the suspension or mechanical upgrades. Using the same 315kW 5.0lt V8 as the FPV GS ute, the special edition FPV Pursuit ute is limited to 75 units and priced from $57,990 (plus on-roads), a $5000 premium over the standard GS ute.
