HONDA CIVIC TYPE R CONCEPT COMING

Honda will have a number of releases for next month's Geneva Motor Show, including the powertrain layout for the NSX, Civic WTCC racer, FCEV eco vehicle and more, but the one that most enthusiasts are salivating over is the Civic Type R Concept.

Making its world debut at Geneva, the Civic Type R Concept has been dubbed by the design team as a 'racing car for the road', with bold and expressive styling that reflects the strong performance characteristics for which Type R is renowned.

The rendering shown here features chunky, vented wheelarch flares, substantial rear diffuser, and equally meaty rear spoiler.

Powertrain specs aren't listed, but expect a development of Honda's 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo to power the concept (if it's fitted with an engine at Geneva), via the front wheels.

No other details have been released yet, but if past form is any guide, the car on show in Switzerland should be very close to the final production model Civic Type R that's set to debut in 2015.

The 2014 Geneva Motor Show runs from March 6 - 16.
