Hot Wheels fuel deal - get your petrol at 1968 prices
Coming to a bowser near you, the 'Fuel Your Passion' offer will be available at a Coles Express outlet in Sydney on February 12, 2011. The location of the 'Fuel Your Passion' service station will be kept a closely guarded secret, set to be revealed less than 24 hours before the event.
Since hitting the market in 1968, Hot Wheels has produced more than three billion model cars worldwide, making it the world's biggest car manufacturer. Drawing on the spirit of that year, Hot Wheels is offering Aussies the chance to reminisce about the 'good old days' when fuel was cheap and many of today's classic cars were born.
A Melbourne-based Coles Express service station was converted to a pit stop on Saturday January 29, with the discounted fuel on offer from 12-2pm. The location was kept under wraps until the day before, when it was announced during the Hughsey and Kate breakfast program on Nova 100 FM.
"Hot Wheels™ brings out the boy in all of us and no matter who you are, you've probably owned at least one Hot Wheels car in your lifetime," said Hot Wheels Australia Senior Brand Manager, Ben Caddy. "Hot Wheels is one of the world's most iconic automotive brands and we've been ever-present since 1968. To celebrate the Hot Wheels legacy and bring back the spirit of '68, we're going to give Aussies the chance to refuel for the same price as it was when Hot Wheels™ was born in 1968, just 10 cents per litre.
"Hot Wheels first began in 1968 when the Mattel toy brand commenced manufacturing the die-cast model cars which now include thousands of models including collector favourites such as the Original Twin Mill and the Treasure Hunt series. Punters will be given the opportunity to check out the hot designs of replica hot-rods down on the forecourt and glide through a life-size Hot Wheels speed loop, and for their own cars to be serviced by the elite Hot Wheels crew.
Sydney-siders can grab their discounted petrol on February 12 at a Coles Express outlet in their state.
