Hot Wheels Nash Metropolitan SEMA STUNNER 2019
Following the success of last year’s 50th Anniversary ‘Hot Wheels Legends Tour’ Hot Wheels did it again this year, hosting events across North America and Europe where custom car builders presented their creations – the best of which would be turned into a new Hot Wheels diecast toy.
Almost 5,000 cars were entered across the 20 different stops on the 2019 Hot Wheels Legends Tour, with the 20 finalists from each show presented at SEMA.
The overall winner was this custom 1957 Nash Metropolitan, built by Greg Salzillo of JLS Customs and Dave Ford of Resurrection Garage.
While still recognisably a Nash, what made this year’s winner stand out to the judges was its eye-catching features, like the oversized wheels – steelies on old-school bias ply tyres – sitting proud of the body and ‘dice’ air cleaners for the Chevy 305 small block V8.
A roof chop, layback windscreen, drag chute and bumper delete are other features.
“We’re extremely overwhelmed, proud and excited over what Dave and I created with The Nash,” said Salzillo. “I can’t wait to see my kids’ faces when they see their dad’s car turned into a real Hot Wheels toy.”
