HSV release Camaro ZL1 numbers
This past May, following full certification of the Camaro ZL1 for Australia, HSV has released that data.
Maximum power for the Camaro ZL1 has been confirmed at 477kW at 6,400rpm, with maximum torque of 881Nm at 3,600rpm. These figures differ slightly from the 480kW and 860Nm maximums quoted in March.
“These numbers are sure to inspire GM, HSV and performance enthusiasts alike,” said HSV’s Managing Director, Tim Jackson. “It truly is an exceptional vehicle.”
As previously reported, the Camaro ZL1 is powered by GM’s LT4 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine, matched to a choice of 6-speed manual or 10-speed auto transmissions. Launch Control is common to both versions, with the manual offering Active Rev Matching, while the auto adds a line locker and lift-foot gear holding technology.
Beyond the supercharged engine, features that set the Camaro ZL1 apart from the Camaro 2SS include Magnetic Ride Control shock absorbers, an electronic LSD, upgraded Brembo brakes, unique 20-inch wheels, Recaro front seats, a suede-trimmed flat-bottom steering wheel and sports pedals.
Priced at $159,990 (+ ORCs) for the manual transmission version, the ZL1 is almost double the $86,990 listed price of the 2SS. The 10-speed auto adds $2,200 and metallic paint is an $850 premium.
Remanufacturing of the Camaro ZL1 is underway at HSV, with orders now being taken. See your HSV dealer for details
