HTCAV Sponsor Profile – Ozito Australia

When it comes to power tools, reliability, usability and versatility are the “holy trinity”. Not every brand nails all three, but Ozito does. If you want proof of that, look no further than your local Bunnings. Let’s be honest, Bunnings wouldn’t stock Ozito if people weren’t buying them. And people wouldn’t be buying them if they didn’t meet their expectations of reliability, usability and versatility.
When it comes to the latter, Ozito’s PXC range of 18V cordless products up the ante and have become a favourite with DIYers in garages, sheds and backyards Australia-wide.
“Ozito PXC’s range of 18V cordless products is available exclusively from Bunnings and there are almost 80 fully-compatible power tool, power garden and automotive products powered by the PXC battery,” explains Danny Myers, a Business Unit Manager with Ozito and part of the HTCAV brigade in his hot yellow HQ Monaro.
Heart of . . . Lithium
The beating heart of Ozito’s PXC cordless range, every PXC lithium ion battery is built with leading technology and useful features.
- Active Battery Management System – sophisticated thermal and deep discharge protection is backed by monitoring of each lithium ion cell for temperature, current and charge for maximum safety.
- SSP Chip – identifies power draw for surges and spikes and provides more power to work through or will shut off if the peak is too high to protect itself from damage.
- No memory effect or discharge – recharge at any time with no impact on ongoing battery capacity. Even after months in storage, PXC batteries will hold almost all of their charge.
- LED fuel gauge - so you always know how much charge is remaining.
- Impact-protected housing – designed to withstand impacts without damage to the battery.
- 5.2Ah Ultra Battery – has improved temperature control and increased battery capacity for ultimate performance with high draw tools.
- 2 x 18V Battery capability – available on selected PXC products for double the power.
Aussie Impact and Affordability
Danny says the entire PXC power tool range has been designed with the home and garden enthusiast at heart.
“The end goal was to produce tools designed for Australian users - with performance that exceeds expectations and spec’d with technology and features such as brushless motors and hybrid power input. Typically, these sorts of features have been commonplace only on premium competitor brands’ tools, but Ozito makes that tech affordable to the Aussie DIYer.”
The “hybrid power” Danny refers to covers products in the PXC range that can run off both battery and mains power, making them additionally versatile.
Of course, the merits of cordless power tools are obvious to anyone who’s used them, especially after years of wrestling with corded tools limited by the length of the cord or access to a power point. Corded tools are potentially dangerous, too, from trip hazards to exposed wires. Cordless power tools eliminate all of that.
For racers like Danny, another benefit of the PXC cordless range is not needing to be near a power outlet at the circuit and no need to lug a generator to some of the more remote race meetings.
Save and Expand
“The PXC range is priced around 30-50 per cent below competitor brands,” Danny explains. “That means you can build up a handy tool collection for less money – leaving you more to spend on your vehicle, be it a classic car, bike, boat or anything else.”
Danny adds that the best value method of getting into the PXC platform is to start with a kit – a tool with battery and charger included – then add on additional ‘skins’ (ie. tools, like an impact wrench or angle grinder) and batteries as needed.
There are a range of PXC battery sizes and amperages available, but every PXC skin is compatible with every PXC battery, regardless of size. Simply put, the higher the amperage, the longer the run time between recharges.
“Best performance will always come with matching the job to the battery, though,” Danny explains. “A high draw skin, such as an angle grinder, will perform best when paired with a high capacity battery such as the 5.2Ah PXC Ultra Battery, for example.”
Cordless for the Garage
Within the broad Ozito PXC range are several items ideally suited for the home mechanic.
“We have many products in the PXC Automotive Range – products that will blow away your expectations,” Danny says.

PXC Hybrid Inflator/Deflator ($89 RRP)
This mini compressor features two motors, ensuring high-pressure and high-volume inflation can be done with ease. Hybrid Technology allows it to run on 18V PXC batteries or 240V mains power – perfect for when you’re in the garage or off the grid.
PXC 18V Brushless 2-in-1 Sander/Polisher ($159 RRP)
Equipped with electronic speed control and a powerful brushless motor, this is a tool with the versatility to sand, making it suitable for a range of projects, as well as cutting and polishing, to get that perfect finish for your show car.
PXC 18V Brushless Angle Grinder ($109 RRP)
Perfect for using a strip disc to remove paint or sound deadener, a flap disc for removing rust, or just cutting and grinding. The brushless motor is smaller than typical brushed-motor grinders so it’s extremely comfortable to hold.
PXC Hybrid Twin LED Worklights & Tripod ($99.99 RRP)
Designed specifically for the Australian market, with two fully dimmable (0-2000 lumen) high output LEDs that are 360-degree rotatable and mounted on a high quality, fully collapsible 1.5M tripod. Runs off PXC batteries or 240V mains power.
