Hyundai announce 1,000hp showcar

Hyundai is partnering with Bisimoto Engineering in California to create a Genesis Coupe Concept for the 2013 SEMA show in Las Vegas that will produce a claimed 1,000 horsepower.

The concept that will debut at SEMA is designed to offer the reliability of a street car, but with the outrageous power of a no-holds-barred racer.

Bisimoto Engineering, whom Hyundai have partnered with in the past, are known for extracting awesome, reliable power out of production-grade, everyday powerplants.

For the 2013-model Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Bisimoto will generate 1,000 horsepower from a factory-based turbocharged Hyundai 3.8 litre V6 engine. Based on Hyundai's naturally-aspirated Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec engine, the Bisimoto tweaking will involve all new engine internals to handle the extra grunt.

"The key to producing reliable, high horsepower engines goes well beyond the design, engineering and fabrication of performance parts," said Bisi Ezerioha, owner of Bisimoto Engineering.

"The core powerplant must be strong enough to withstand advanced modifications. The Genesis Coupe 3.8-litre Lambda engine is a thoroughly robust powerplant, and Bisimoto Engineering is excited to develop it to its full potential for the rigors of competitive motorsport."

Complementing the extensive work under the bonnet, Bisimoto will add a Burns stainless exhaust, Denmatic design graphics package, ARK hood, carbon fibre deck lid, and a custom Electric Blue paint finish.
