Hyundai back to WRC in 2013
Hyundai will be basing the rally car on the popular production car, the i20. They are following in the footsteps of Volkswagen with the introduction of the Polo in next year's series.
Apparently, the Hyundai i20 rally prototype is already finished. Motorsport suppliers have confirmed that Hyundai has ordered motorsport components for the race version of the i20.
In early 2000, Hyundai competed in the WRC with the Accent rally car. They withdrew from the race series after deeming it to be too expensive. With the inclusion on the Polo in next year's competition, Hyundai feels there is no better opportunity to get back into the World Rally Championship.
