JUST CARS presents Route 66 at CLIPSAL 500

It's the ultimate nostalgia trip for those whose taste in automobile art. The Route 66 presented by JUST CARS will showcase the golden era of the fifties and sixties when American cars were the kings of cool and the ultimate drive was a jaunt along the world's most famous highway from Chicago to Los Angeles - Route 66.

Muscle cars, old fashioned gas pumps and diners on the highway are part of the Route 66 presented by JUST CARS, as is a liberal dose of rock 'n' roll music and the dance moves that make you groove.

At the 2013 event, the Route 66 display will feature dozens of classic cars, some of which may have actually driven the famous American highway before being shipped 'Down Under' to be part of the Aussie cruising car scene.

Cars to be featured on Route 66 presented by JUST CARS include:

_ 1966 Mustang Convertible. Owned by David Evans, this 'pony car' has a 289 ci V8 mated to an automatic transmission, and for many people epitomizes the ideal car to drive Route 66.

_ 1964 Corvette Stingray. This C2 model Corvette owned by Geof Tartoosie is a classic with its timeless shape, light weight, high output V8 engine and manual gearbox. It features matching numbers and is very, very original.

_ 1967 Camaro. Another American classic from General Motors. This first generation Camaro is owned by Grant and Stephanie Zippel, who take every opportunity to clock up the "k's," using it regularly for local and interstate trips.

_ 1957 Chev Coupe. The "Chevvy" model that's a true American icon is owned by Tom and Karen Keves, and was recently imported from the USA. It features all the factory options of the day, including air conditioning and power steering, and is one smooth machine.

Route 66 presented by JUST CARS is just one of the many attractions at this year's CLIPSAL 500. In addition to the racing, there will be wild drifting demonstrations from gymkhana legend, Ken Block, as well as drag car demos, the ArmorAll Extreme Top 50 car show (where Mario Colalillo's 'WILD CAD' will be the star), live bands, freestyle motocross, family fun zone, fashion parades, a ladies day, AFL Footy Fest and more.
