K-Mac camber kits – doing what the car industry isn’t
Did you know that the majority of new cars released in the last 30+ years have no ability for camber and caster adjustment in their engineering? Even performance models from Mercedes-AMG and BMW M no longer incorporate camber adjustability. Kevin McIntyre of suspension specialists K-Mac explains that this is due to a combination of cost cutting by manufacturers and the ever-increasing speed at which car assembly lines operate; something they don’t educate their customers about.
What this means for the new car buyer is that a “full wheel alignment” only adjusts toe (ie., the direction of the wheels relative to the forward motion of the vehicle). There’s no way to reduce premature and costly tyre edge wear caused by incorrect camber in the vehicle, nor the excessive wear caused to passenger-side tyres by the high camber of modern roads. Same goes if your vehicle has been lowered or has wheel squat from load carrying – there’s no way to counteract tyre edge wear.
If you want to dial in extra camber to reduce understeer for motorsport applications, or you just want ongoing camber adjustability to resolve kerb knock damage, you simply can’t do it for the majority of modern cars, because that adjustability has not been engineered in.
Kevin says the deletion of camber adjustability has been the car industry’s best-kept secret, putting the onus back on vehicle owners, who are prematurely replacing tyres to address problems that can be fixed with a K-Mac camber kit.
Sixty years of experience - Kevin has been resolving OEM suspension shortcomings since 1964 - has resulted in K-Mac being able to provide the world’s largest range of bolt-on camber and caster kits for front wheels, as well as rear camber and extra toe kits, to resolve this lack of factory adjustment.
K-Mac may be a small company, but they lead the world with their products, combining strength and reliability with adjustment range and ease of fitment. K-Mac camber kits are all bolt-on, with no special tools required, so they can be fitted by a competent DIYer.
While there are other providers of camber kits and related products, from the USA, Germany, the UK and Japan, Kevin says none come close to K-Mac. In fact, all the major world patents over the last 30 years in this field have come from K-Mac, and Kevin points out that his products are supplied to the premier aftermarket suspension companies in the USA and Germany.
K-Mac camber kits to suit everything from Audi to Volvo are available, along with uprated adjuster kits for earlier models. All are designed to improve the steering, handling and braking of your vehicle – adding the adjustability that the car industry left out.
Regardless of whether you’re looking for improved performance on track, sharper steering response on the road, or just more even tyre wear (and thus longer tyre life), you’ll benefit from adding a K-Mac camber kt to your vehicle.
Besides alignment/adjuster kits, K-Mac also manufacture front and rear anti-sway bars, along with uprated bars for performance vehicles, muscle cars, pickups, campers and SUVs, applying their experience of being the world’s original aftermarket manufacturer since 1964. Nothing comes close to K-Mac!
