Lamborghini creates unique Huracan STO
Ten years of Lamborghini’s ‘Squadra Corse’ motorsport division has been recognised with the production of a special version of the Huracan STO supercar. Created by Lamborghini’s Ad Personam vehicle tailoring division, the STO also has Opera Unica (Unique Work) status, meaning it’s a one-off vehicle.
Officially known as the ‘Huracan STO SC 10° Anniversario’, the bespoke creation was unveiled at the finale of the 2023 Super Trofeo season in Vallelunga that brings together Lamborghini racecars and drivers from Super Trofeo championships in Europe, Asia and North America.
“The Huracan STO SC 10° Anniversario is not only a tribute to our racing division Squadra Corse, but a concrete demonstration of how experience gained in motorsport can be effectively transferred to the road product, enhancing performance and driving pleasure,” said Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini.
“We firmly believe that motorsport is the most technically sophisticated and challenging test bed, and Squadra Corse’s know-how is a valuable asset that deserves to be highlighted on unique models and limited road series with a racing vocation.”
The livery on the Huracan STO SC 10° Anniversario is inspired by the SC63 hybrid prototype that Lamborghini revealed in July and will field in the Hypercar/GTP class of the 2024 World Endurance Championship. The two-tone livery of Verde Mantis and Nero Noctis (Mantis Green and Night Black) is accented with the Italian tricolore that runs over the bonnet and roof.
Squadra Corse 10° Anniversario logos adorn the doors, with a Squadra Corse logo on the rear fin, which on the Huracan STO, extends from the airscoop atop the roof to the trailing edge of the mid-mounted engine’s cover. There’s also a carbon fibre aero package, accented with Rosso Mars (Mars Red) striping.
Squadra Corse inspiration continues inside, with the seats upholstered in black Alcantara, accented with green piping and stitching. ‘STO’ identification in the uprights and the Lamborghini logo in the headrests are also finished in green. Four-point harnesses and a roll bar are fitted, while the floors are lined in carbon fibre. Finally, there’s a unique plaque behind the seats, verifying the car’s unique status.
The Huracan STO SC 10° Anniversario is the first road-legal Lamborghini car to receive a performance kit from Squadra Corse engineers. Aimed at improving dynamic performance, the kit includes optimised aerodynamics via all-new carbon fibre deflectors on the bonnet and a revised rear wing angle to increase downforce.
The standard magnetic active suspension has been replaced with race-derived shocks all round that are four-way adjustable with rebound/compression for both high and low speeds.
Finishing touches include unique tyres that were developed by Bridgestone and utilise a new compound for “optimum performance and durability, lap after lap”.
The Huracan STO’s drivetrain is unaltered for the SC 10° Anniversario, bar the addition of an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system.
Producing 470kW and 556Nm maximums, the 5.2-litre V10 in the Huracan STO drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed DCT gearbox. Top speed is normally 310km/h, but the aero improvements and lighter exhaust in the SC 10° Anniversario may deliver a little more.
The hybrid aluminium and carbon fibre chassis is unchanged, along with things like the carbon ceramic brakes, electro-mechanical power steering and 20-inch wheels.
Following its debut at Vallelunga in November, where it was presented alongside 15 examples of the Aventador SVJ-based Essenza SCV12 track car and the SC63 hypercar, the Huracan STO SC 10° Anniversario will likely do the rounds of other Lamborghini events, including Super Trofeo rounds, in 2024.
