Lamborghini unveil 'Squadra Corse' edition Gallardo LP 570-4
Inspired by Lamborghini's racing success, and with a name taken from the company's recently-founded motorsport division, the limited edition Squadra Corse is based on the Gallardo Super Trofeo car that competes in the Blancpain Super Trofeo one-make racing series in Europe.
Derived directly from the race car, the Squadra Corse uses the same V10 engine, unmodified, and the same rear wing. Under the best aerodynamic conditions, this wing achieves three times the load of the Gallardo LP 560-4, offering increased dynamic stability during tight high-speed cornering.
Another element taken directly from the racing version is the removable engine hood equipped with a quick-release system. Both the rear wing and the hood are made from carbon composite material, as are a host of other components on the Squadra Corse.
Lightweight construction
Construction is combined aluminium and carbon fibre, which gives the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse a dry weight of 1340 kilograms, 70 less than the Gallardo LP 560-4.
Power-to-weight ratio is 2.35 kilograms per hp, with 0 to 100 km/h perforamance of 3.4 seconds, and 200 km/h in just 10.4 seconds, on to a top speed of 320 km/h. Pulling up that speed are carbon-ceramic brakes, which are fitted as standard.
Technology and powertrain
Based on the Gallardo Superleggera, the V10 engine shared by both the Super Trofeo competition car and the Squadra Corse homage generates 570 hp (419 kW) at 8,000 rpm.
Like the race car, the Gallardo Squadra Corse comes as standard with the robotized e-gear six-speed transmission operated by steering wheel paddles and all-wheel drive.
Exterior colours
Available exterior colours include Giallo Midas (yellow), Bianco Monocerus (white), Grigio Thalasso (grey) and Rosso Mars (red). The large rear wing is finished in matte black, regardless of exterior colour choice.
The bonnet, front air intakes, rear diffuser and 19-inch forged wheels are painted in high-gloss black, while the brake calipers are available in red, black or yellow.
Identifying the Gallardo Squadra Corse's national racing heritage are decal strips along both flanks in green, white and red.
Minimalist sporty interior
Lightweight carbon fibre and Alcantara trim dominates the Squadra Corse interior, with the latter applied to the underside of the dashboard, central panel of the seat cushion and the backrest.
Carbon fibre is used for the centre console cover, door panels and handles, handbrake frame, lower rim of the steering wheel, instrument panel trim, and the handle for opening the glove box.
The racing-style seats are also carbon fibre, but can be replaced with standard Gallardo seats when ordering.
