Lexus unveil race version of RC F
Lexus will also return to the Nurburgring in June with two LFA, one an experimental vehicle - codenamed LFA-X - which will test future sports car technologies under race conditions.
Compared with the LFA's base 4.8-litre V10 engine, the LFA-X research vehicle's engine displacement has been increased to 5.3 litres while the system output and torque has been fine-tuned to better suit the gruelling Nurburgring circuit.
Other vehicle enhancements include a full carbon frame body to enhance body rigidity while reducing vehicle weight.
The Super GT racer is based on the recently unveiled RC F performance coupe and will compete in the GT 500 class in the Japanese Super GT series.
The 2014 Super GT series commences on April 6, with all competitors moving to new technical regulations that will see previous 3.4-litre V8 GT 500 engines replaced with 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engines.
The 2014 Nurburgring 24 Hour runs from June 19 to 22.
