Mazda celebrates centenary with special edition MX-5
Available in limited numbers, all the special editions take inspiration from the R360 in terms of colours, finish and appearance, with the 100th Anniversary Special Edition MX-5 the first to be revealed.
The 100th Anniversary Special Edition MX-5 features a distinctive burgundy and white two-tone finish that defined the premium version of the R360.
All special edition MX-5s are finished in Snowflake White Pearl, with a burgundy interior. Burgundy leather, originally introduced on the Mazda3, adorns the seats, with the carpeting and floor mats also finished in burgundy.
The MX-5 soft top’s folding fabric roof, normally black, is finished in burgundy on the 100th Anniversary Special Edition. Whether the special edition will also be offered on the RF folding hardtop versions of the MX-5 is unconfirmed.
Identifying 100th Anniversary Special Edition badging, which combines the current Mazda brand mark with the round logo created when Toyo Kogyo (the forerunner to Mazda) was first formed, features on the key fob, wheel caps, head rests and floor mats, while ‘100 Years 1920 – 2020’ badges grace the front guards.
Set to come to Australia later in 2020, Mazda’s 100th Anniversary Special Edition series will only be available in limited numbers, so interested customers are advised to register their interest – at https://www.mazda.com.au/– to be the first to know when available numbers, pricing and Australian release dates are confirmed.
