McLaren hosts first Aussie track day experience
November saw McLaren Automotive hold their first official Australian owners’ track day, with 21 Aussie McLaren owners and other VIP clients spending a day on the iconic Phillip Island GP circuit.
Mirroring similar owner’s track days hosted by McLaren around the world, a total of 29 McLarens were part of the day’s program, with the success of the debut track day convincing McLaren to make it an annual event.
Expert assistance on the day came from Indy 500 winner and IRL champion Kenny Brack, who was appointed as a test and development driver for McLaren Automotive in 2015.
“Getting behind the wheel of a McLaren is always an exhilarating experience for me, and nowhere is this more apparent than pushing it on track,” Brack said.
“I have seen some of these amazing cars through the development stages and to drive them on the track with McLaren owners who are also passionate about driving is absolutely incredible.”
George Biggs, Managing Director of Asia Pacific at McLaren Automotive said of the debut owners’ day: “It is an important milestone for us as it has always been our focus to bring the exhilaration of driving to our customers.
“Every McLaren is built to be driven and enjoyed, hosting it here on the Philip Island Circuit provides the best opportunity for our owners to do so. It is great to see a growing community of McLaren owners in Australia that enjoy sharing their passion for driving.”
Biggs added that, in addition to future owners’ track days, McLaren owners in Australia can look forward to more driving programs as part of an “exciting line up of activities in 2018”.
