Mercedes-Benz Club NSW 2009 Concours d'Elegance
Cars of all ages appeared, from Alex Holland's 1951 170VA right up to a brand new 2009 E Class Coupe. Highlights in-between included an immaculate 1957 300SL Roadster and a Regal 600 Grosser. George Matheson proudly showed his gleaming 1979 450SEL 6.9 and added to his six prior class wins with a seventh this time around. Sadly, George has run out of garage space and his prize-winning 'uber saloon' has drawn the short straw, so he's putting it up for sale. Interested parties should contact the club via the website listed below.
Picking up many trophies, including Restored Vehicle Award, Long Distance Award and Winner In Class, was George Bekiaris with his sublime 1971 300SEL. Clearly, it was a good day for the Bekiaris household, with Sam Bekiaris scooping up outright winner honours with her 230SL Pagoda.
The club was also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the W110-112, affectionately known as the 'Fintail', so a good range of these stylish saloons were on display. The club deserves congratulations for what was a great social day, which also raised money for CareFlight.
